At the beginning of this book I wasn't as into it as I had been the first book of the series. For probably slightly less than half the book I was somewhat bored. Not enough to not want to read it, but I wasn't exactly excited to pick it up and read either. Somewhere around the middle though it got a lot better very quickly, and I really enjoyed the ending.Blanca turns out to be quite the interesting character. I'm a little weirded out by her to be completely honest. I was somewhat in the first book, but it just worsened in the second. Isobel and Ian were both interesting new characters that were introduced. Isobel grew on me over the course of the book, but even now that I'm on the third book, I still don't know how I feel about Ian. I didn't really like Isobel's place in the story at first, but I appreciated it a lot more later.Jack and Silver's relationship got quite frustrating in this book, and that was the main thing that annoyed me for the first half of the book. It didn't bother me as much during the second half, but it felt a bit repetitive. After a while I just wanted to yell at them to stop lying to each other. They'd been through it enough times by then that you'd think they'd have learned. Still, it got better over the course of the book, and by the end it wasn't as frustrating.Overall, I thought it was a good book even if it was a bit frustrating at times, and I'm really looking forward to finishing the third book and seeing how everything ends!http://hmweasley-blog.blogspot.com/20...

Actual Rating: 2.5I have to say I am really disappointed. I read the first book in this series and although I hated the title with a passion, I was pleasantly surprised by the content of the book and the fact that it was written by a self-published author. When I finished the last book, I actually googled when the sequel was to be released and as soon as it was released I downloaded it. I was really looking forward to this book - but it was a definite backward step for me.The first quarter of the book was really confusing. I had no idea what was happening and I actually had to go back to the first book to work out if I had missed anything. What had happened between Jack and Silver? How much time had passed? It was one big confusing mess that totally disengaged me from the story. I picked this book up and put it down so many times as I just could not get into the story and could not work out what had happening. Maybe the author was trying to create a bit of intrigue....but it failed for me and actually resulted in disengaging me from the story. A little recap on book one may have helped (a MUST for any book in a series) and then not jumping to uncovered events....Then the storyline went off on this reincarnation tangent. There was too much happening and the storyline went from a novel take on vampires/werewolves from book 1 to an over crammed storyline that made no sense at all in book 2. Jack/Tobias? Isobel? Where did all this come from???????Then there is Silver. I didn't connect with her in the first book and in this book I wanted to suck out her soul. She is annoying. She does not engage me at all. Actually, everytime I read the name Silver, my mind would say Sliver (did you know Silver is actually a really hard word to keep saying over and over in your head when you are reading and Sliver is much easier). She has actually became Sliver for me - a sign of how much I hated her. Not a good lead female character. She started off in the very beginning of book 1 as such a kickass female character, but has deteriorated into a whining teen lamenting the fact that she can't be a lawyer (WTF?). I can't believe Jack and Sliver relationship....there is no passion, no connection..... Jack has also become lost to me. I really liked him in the first book - but the whole Jack-Silver thing didn't work at all for me. They are not a good lead couple. Is it really bad when you are rooting for the evil guys and hope they manage to kill all the others off?It wasn't all bad. I think the author is really good at writing villains - the head werewolf, the shapeshifter..... I love her villains in actual fact. I would love to see her write about a villain who becomes redeemed. Also, the last 50 pages actually became quite good and the reveal at the end re: the first vampire was pleasantly unexpected. However, it was too little too late. Reading so much mundane stuff between Jack-Silver has really started to kill this series for me and I don't know if it can be redeemed given this is a book about them. Can you ever like a series where the lead male annoys you and you want to violently kill the lead female??? I just don't know.

Werewolves Rule! is the sequel to the super-fun YA Urban Fantasy Vampires Rule!As much as I enjoyed the first book, I still had issues regarding editing and other minor story quirks. In this book, there were no really noticeable editing mistakes and the story had an excellent flow. The hero, Jack is a former vampire who was returned to mortality and humanity in the first book. In this story we continue with Jack's path toward a final battle with the powerful Jersey Clifford, the world's first werewolf. Jack's roller-coaster relationship with his destined girlfriend, Silver, heats up (but not in a good way). Actually Jack finds it hard to stay in a good relationship with anyone, his girlfriend, his brother, his teachers...Several new characters are introduced and they make a big splash right away. Isobel, a werewolf, links Jack to his previous incarnation and tells him that they were lovers in a previous life. This can only end badly, right?Well, I won't give anything away here. However, this book brings all of the previously loose plot threads into sharp focus, ending some while unravelling others. The action and suspense are ratcheted up a few notches from book 1 as well.I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this story and hope that there will be a book 3 very, very soon!Oh, and the best line from the book? Jack's brother Billy says to him - "Why don't you sparkle?"

Where to begin? I'm torn about whether I liked this book better or Vampires Rule. A lot of stuff happens in this book. I don't want to spoil it so I won't give details, but Jack finally turns eighteen. The scene almost made me cry. I am so happy for him and love how he and Billy are trying to work things out. I wasn't real happy that Silver and Jack have decided to just be friends for the moment. There is still that deep attraction and you know they love each other. Big surprise: someone is a shape-shifter. Didn't see that one coming. If it was mentioned in the first book, then I totally missed it. The ending is messed up. If you want closure, you won't find it at the end of this book. The author has promised the big battle with Jersey Clifford will happen in the next book Shifters Rule, but Jack does have some intense battles in this one too. There is a new bad guy (girl) in this one, but Jersey still pops in to torment Jack and wreak havoc whenever he can. I thought it was pretty awesome and can't wait for the next one.

While still enjoyable it wasn't as good as the first book in the series. Mainly because of the break down in the relationship between Silver and Jack. The way Jack keeps everything from Silver even though they keep promising to be honest with each other and the way Silver gets angry every time Jack tells her something is getting annoying. Basically the story goes - Big revelation/bad decision by Jack, Jack doesn't tell Silver, Silver finds out(sometimes from Jack later), Silver is mad and not talking to Jack, Silver forgives Jack and they promise to be honest. New revelation to Jack - doesn't tell Silver, Silver finds out, Silver is mad & not talking to Jack, Jack is sorry Silver forgives him they promise not to keep things from each other. REPEAT. REPEAT. REPEAT. Once or maybe twice would be ok but it is the entire freaking book. ooh I guess it annoyed me more than I realised.Am hopefully that the third book wont have that pattern.

I just loved this book. The Rule Series have 5 books in the series. Vampires Rule, Werewolves Rule, Shifters Rule, Wizards Rule and Mortals Rule. I have just finished number two. I have already read the first four books. Back when I read them Mortals Rule hadn't been released yet, so this will be the first time for it.But I feel you really have to like a book alot to read it more than one time. And as I said, this is the second time for the first four books.I hope you take the time to read the series. It is an amazing one that I know you will enjoy. Now it's time for me to go so I can once more dive into the world of Kasi Blake and catch up with Jack and Silver again and see what trouble has come there way now.Happy Reading.

As a continuation from my previous critique from Vampire's Rule not much has changed in the manner of the story arch of going from one disaster to another. But I can say that you can see a bit more character development but it still feels like it only just scratches the surface.I know that all good stories need the push and pull but perhaps not as prevalent as what I am seeing here. I will add that the story arch has some twist that I was not expecting at all and no I am not going to reveal any spoilers, that just takes the fun out of it for others. This has made for a more developed story arch which I did enjoy. Now I am ready for the next book cause yes I am hooked now!!

This book is better than the first in the series. I must say that even though it is paranormal, it still has too many twists to the plot to be believable. I wish the author would spend more time explaining the normal day to day of the plot so you could get a real feel for the main characters love story. I definitely will read the next book because I would like to see how it all ends and I would like to see if the author continues to improve her story-telling skills.
