She knows how to transform a house into a home that sparkles. But when Drew lets his guard down, he finds that Taylor has much more to offer. Kissing her is like coming in out of the cold—and Drew doesn’t want to go back out.   Taylor has already raised one family—she grew up with six brothers, after all—and she doesn’t need another. She may have fallen for Drew as a teenager, but he’s asking for a Christmas miracle that would break all her rules. Still, the chemistry she shares with this sexy, single father has nothing to do with the past. Perhaps the gift of a young boy’s smile, not to mention stolen kisses beneath the mistletoe, will point the way to the one thing on Taylor’s wish list.  Includes a special message from the editor, as well as excerpts from these Loveswept titles: About Last Night, Blaze of Winter, and Lana’s Lawman....

Reviewed on: http://readyourwrites.blogspot.comFor Read Your Writes Book ReviewsI've read a couple of other Loveswept Classic Romances before and I either found those to be just okay or not to my liking. So, I have to say, I was a little disappointed after I realized this was a classic romance. I went into reading this book thinking the book blurb was great but I didn't have high hopes for it. Oh my GOSH! I loved this book. It has everything I could possibly want in a contemporary romance.Taylor Bishop is a twenty-nine-year-old single girl. Her mother died when she was sixteen years old and she has been pretty much taking care of her father and six brothers ever since. In Taylor's mind, she has already raised one family and she doesn't want to raise another. Thus, she doesn't have any kids and she's not married. One of her rules is to NOT date guys who have kids. Those guys, in her mind, are only looking for someone to raise their kids. Now it's a week before Christmas and she's back in her hometown of Harvey, Arkansas trying to will herself to put together another perfect Christmas for her family.Drew Haywood is a thirty-five-year-old single dad to a five-year-old son named Noah. Drew has been divorced from his ex-wife Anna for about four years and two months ago she flew to Arizona and left Noah with Drew, with no intentions of coming back for him. It appears Noah didn't fit into her new life. So Drew moves him and his son back to his adopted hometown of Harvey. It's Christmastime. It has been a difficult last couple of months. Drew wants to give Noah a Christmas he will remember. This is one of those happy-ever-after stories, so you know Drew and Taylor are going to end up together. If you've read any of my reviews before, then you know I'm all about the journey. I LOVE the journey Ms. Dixon takes us on. In fact, I don't think there's anything about this story that I don't love.Taylor and Drew have had a thing for each other for years but the age difference was a problem. Drew is six years older than she is. In fact, on one of the lowest days of her life, the day of her mother’s funeral, Drew kissed a then sixteen year old Taylor and made her feel better about herself. Drew immediately realized his mistake and apologized, thus breaking a young girl's heart. Now, thirteen years later, Drew has not only moved back, he's come looking for Taylor to give him the one thing only she can give, a Christmas he and his son can remember for a lifetime.Drew is an only child. He grew up with parents who loved him enough to take care of him, but did not fill the house with a warmth of home. They were all about appearances and the country club scene. In fact, when Drew told his parents he was moving back, they decided to move to Florida. They aren't even planning on being around to share Christmas with Drew and Noah. Ever since Drew and his parents moved to Harvey, Drew has been in awe of the Bishop household. They are/were a large family who immediately welcomed him in, like he was apart of the family. When Drew goes looking for Taylor at the Bishop family home, she thinks he’s there for her brother Clay, who happens to be the same age and is a really good friend of Drew. Taylor refuses to believe that he actually came looking for her. Through some pushing from her new sister-in-law and father, Taylor agrees to spend the week putting together a Christmas Noah and Drew can both cherish and remember. She swears to herself that she’s not going to get involved or attached. But how can you not get attached to a little boy who isn’t a little boy at all. Noah is the perfect child, a little too perfect in fact. Turns out when his mother left him, she told him that he better not misbehave, because then his dad would send him away too.Through the course of the book, Taylor tries her best to not fall for Drew and Noah. After all, she still thinks Drew doesn’t want her romantically, but as a mother replacement for his son. You have Drew who can read his “Mouse” just by looking at her and does everything he can to break down the walls she’s desperately trying to put up. Over the course of one week, Taylor manages to turn Drew’s beautiful yet dreary house into a warm home, filled with Christmas decorations. She turns Noah into a little boy who gets his first stuffed animal and has his first fit with his dad (that was a funny scene). Also during this time, Drew confesses his feelings for Taylor after all these years. Of course, she doesn’t believe him. Turns out, at least one member of the Bishop family knew of Drew’s feelings for Taylor thirteen years ago and finally tells her so.In the end, Taylor fulfilled her promise to give Noah and Drew a Christmas to remember. In the process, she also made her own family as well.Debra Dixon is a fabulous storyteller. While reading this book, I could actually picture the scenes as if they were truly being played out in front of me. This is a MUST Christmas read.Source: NetGalley

Doc Holiday was the perfect Christmas read, in fact it was a perfect after Christmas read as well! Just a heart~warming, fun, well written, emotional story that I enjoyed so much! I loved the concept of the story in that Drew asked Taylor for help in creating a Christmas for his son that he always wished he had and never did. I was totally drawn into the story from the beginning. I loved Taylor and Drew but the character that I most enjoyed was definitely Noah. Oh..I just loved him!! I wanted to reach through the book and wrap him up in my arms so many times!! The scenes that stuck in my mind the most after I finished reading were the gingerbread decorating (my heart hurt during this scene for both Noah and Drew!!), the parade float where Noah donated his bear (I had tears in my eyes reading this part!!), picking out the Christmas tree, Noah's red boots and the scene where Noah told Drew that he asked Santa for Taylor to be his mommy for good!! Oh..and I especially LOVED LOVED LOVED the ending...I just wished that there was more to the story after Drew and Taylor got together as a couple because they were so cute together and I would have loved to have seen them all further into their relationship as a family. I loved Drew's character and how he never gave up on Taylor even though she kept pushing him away. I love that he saw in her the need to be taken care of because she took care of everyone else but no one took care of her. Oh...and I loved that he fell in love with her when she was only 16 but he couldn't show it because he was way to old for her at the time and she had no idea of his feelings for her. I also loved how he teased her and called her Mouse~so cute!! I love how he was able to catch Taylor so off guard all the time because he knew what she was thinking and how she would react to certain things that he did. He was so sneaky but in a totally fun and loving way!! I also loved that it was so important for Drew to be a good dad and give Noah all the things that he never had as a kid, especially emotionally. Taylor was another great character. She was so afraid to love them but she just couldn't help herself. She was so calm and reassuring to both Noah and Drew. She was so sweet and funny and I loved that she knew exactly the right things to say and do for Noah and Drew. A great entertaining read full of love and tears that left me smiling at the end. Oh..and the sex was pretty HOT also!! ;) Definitely a keeper to be reread and not just at Christmas!! This was my first read from Debra Dixon and I look forward to more from her.5 out of 5 rating!!***ARC provided by NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group. Thank you!!

Slick's http://www.guiltypleasuresbookreviews...4 StarsI’ve really grown to love the Loveswept line of books from Random House. Every time I read one I’m amazed at how wonderfully they are written and what awesome stories each one is. I’m pleased to say that Doc Holiday by Debra Dixon fits this description well. Taking place over the Christmas holiday season we watch as two people with an awkward past and very different outlooks on life manage to find their way to each other despite many missteps along the way.Taylor Bishop has taken care of her family since her mother died when she was 14. Thrust into a nurturing role, she’s finally at a point in her life where she wants to live a little. Having helped raised her two youngest brothers, she’s not interested in settling down and has no intentions of having any children in the near future. Sometimes fate is a fickle creature and when Drew Haywood, her childhood crush and her brother’s best friend, arrives on her childhood home’s doorstep she’s reminded of all the reasons she lusted after him for so many years. Unfortunately Drew is a single father and therefore, Taylor decides she’s not interested in him.It was really hard not to like both of these characters. I felt for Taylor because as much as she loves her family and doesn’t regret the time she took to help them, at age 29 she really is just starting her own life. Since she’s always felt something for Drew, it’s hard to back away and though she tries she finds it impossible because they not only share history, they share remarkable chemistry. Drew just got me right in the heart; a man who was denied so much time with his son and now finds himself a full time Dad. Not that he’s not excited and up for the challenge, but he’s struggling. He knows it and he seeks out Taylor to help him give his son the types of Christmases he remembers sharing with her family. Then there is Noah, Drew’s son, who steals every scene he’s in and at times breaks your heart. I really wanted to bundle him up and just love him.Honestly reading this book, I can see it made into a Lifetime movie. It has all the wonderful feelings you get when you watch a holiday classic. Old friends reunite to bring some joy and magic into the life of a little boy whose life has been turned upside down. Through ups and downs and trials and tribulations they manage to find each other and love along the way. It’s a bumpy road; they both make some mistakes but in the end, love wins. This is a feel good holiday story; one you will want to read year after year. If you are need of some holiday cheer, Doc Holiday has just the cure for you!Review copy provided for an honest review.

Debra who?! Dixon? Never heard of her, but I loved the cover of the book; title was cute and it’s free on NetGalley, so why not? I’m on a roll to read not just Christmas themed stories, but taking a dip into contemporary genre of which I wasn’t such a fan of..before this month that is. I’m changing my mind and mighty quick, especially after I read ‘Doc Holiday’.Before I go all out and start gushing, let me warn you: Do NOT start reading this story without having Klinex close to you! You’ll need it, trust me.Ms. Dixon put this story together so perfectly that I gobbled it up, hating to put it down and go to sleep, or eat [that one wasn't so bad, I need to lose a few] or do anything but turn the pages to see…what NOW?!The emotions within the pages were palpable and raw; the characters too real and loving; the story filled with tension, sexual and emotional. For our heroine, Taylor, who took over ‘mothering’ duties of her six brothers while helping her father after her mother’s death thirteen years ago, her personal life was put on hold. The promise she gave her mother was to look after them until they all were grown and well on their way to taking care of themselves, and that time it seems to be close at hand as the youngest is in college, although he doesn’t think he should be.Taylor is finally ready to be herself, her own person, and unencumbered by the ‘boys’. She can almost ‘taste’ that ‘freedom’…that is until the man from her past shows up…with a son in tow! And she slowly enters into a fight…with herself. To let go of everything she thinks she wants, or give in to what she really needs…Drew Haywood comes back to his home town with one goal in mind: to give his son their first Christmas together that they never had, and to do that he needs ‘Mouse’ [his nickname for Taylor] to help him. The question was, will she agree to it or will she remember, that thirteen years ago their kiss sobered him up into pulling away from her because he was six years older. This is one of the best ‘past meets present’ stories I’ve read in a while and to have a child in the mix was absolutely marvelous! This kid was so cute and if you’re one of those that can’t read a romance with children [I know you're out there], don’t let that stop you from picking this one up, as little Noah will steal your heart.Hands down, heartwarming, at times [many times] sad and frustrating sexy and sensual; modern tale of real, true love; and just overall sweet, sweet romance. Can you tell I loved it?!Book provided by NetGalley

I was in the mood for a nice Christmas romance when I came across Debra Dixon's book on netgalley. I haven't read anything from this author but the story sounded cute and I was in desperate need for a book I could enjoy. (been in a reading slump) I am really glad I decided to give this book a try.It wasn't that it was original or not like any Christmas book I have ever read but I don't know there is just something about a fun Christmas story that involves a little kid that just melts your heart. Taylor's mother died when she was sixteen and with six brothers she helped her father raise them. Now they are all grown up and she has decided that she has already taken care of a family and she doesn't plan on taking care of another. She wants her freedom, but there has been one man in her life that she just can't say no too. She has had a crush on him since she was a kid and he would come over with her brother, Clay. I could sort of see Taylor's way of thinking but I also thought she was a bit stupid at times.Drew's parents were not very loving so he grew up feeling undeserving and not loved. The best times he ever had he remembered it being at the Bishops house. He knew that Taylor always made it the best Christmas and now the he has his son he wants a Taylor Bishop Christmas. He also realise that also wanted Taylor. When they were younger Taylor had been to young, but he always knew there was feelings there, now seeing her all grown up she stirred all those feelings back the surface. Now he just had to convincer her that he wants her and not just a mother for Noah. Noah is the cutest little five year old I have seen in a book in a while and he just absolutely stole my heart from the very beginning. He was so timid and sad, but a Taylor Bishop Christmas really brightened him up.Overall it was a very heart felt romance with a lot of tension between the main characters, though at sometimes I wanted to smack Taylor. It was a little steamy like any good romance and I liked it enough to try something from this author again. So if you really enjoy romance novels then I think you should give it a try. This was originally published in 1994, but republished in ebook form this year.

Find my Full review here: keeping with my holiday tradition, I have found a few Christmas stories that will become regulars in the future. Doc Holiday by Debra Dixon is just such a story for me. If you read my blog much you know I read mostly M/M Romance titles, so for me to find a M/F Contemporary Romance that I say will be a re-read, you know that is saying something.(view spoiler)[Taylor has been both sister and mother to her 6 brothers since her mother got sick while she was only 14. Christmas was always important in the Bishop household, so Taylor made sure it stayed that way. When she was 16 she had her first, and only, kiss with her childhood crush and her older brother’s best friend, Drew Haywood. The 6 year age gap caused the guilt to overpower Drew’s potential feelings of love with feelings of guilt. He went on the live his life. He married the wrong woman who took his infant son halfway around the world so he rarely was able to be the Dad he wanted to be. Just 2 months before Christmas, said ex-wife dumps their 5 year old son, Noah, on his doorstep. In an effort to give the son he loves the “perfect” Christmas, he turns to an old friend whose family Christmases he wants to emulate for Noah. For Drew it is about so much more than Christmas, but can he convince the exceedingly skittish Taylor that he wants more than a mother for his son? (hide spoiler)]This book really harkened back to all those Christmas movies I love so much. Yes the romance is a little fast, but hey it is all part of the Christmas Magic. Plus, you have to remember that these characters have known each other for 15 years, so it is really just an excruciatingly slow burn romance, it is just that the first almost 15 years happens off-page and in flash backs. I have a soft spot for tales of lost love found and Christmas love stories, so I certainly have a soft spot for Doc Holiday.I would like to thank Random House – Loveswept and NetGalley for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.

Doc Holiday by Debra DixonMouse and Hayseed, their pet names for one another while they were teens and growing up in the same town. He had lived at their house more than his own. She was there to decorate her dads house and to restore order to the misfits. She opened up to Drew on their walk around town after her dad told Taylor Bishop the town had changed. He's there to get away from his ex wife. Harvey, AR is not a place she'd even consider looking for him.He just needs one favor for her-to make a Christmas his son Noah will never forget, her style. Yes the ones where the tree was attached to the wall with wires, lopsided with homemade decorations on it.She has to turn him down cuz she's so busy with the decorations, presents, the food, float for the parade and everything else involved with pulling off a typical holiday season in a few days time. Problem is she just might have some time now that her brother Clay's wife, Martha has taken over the kitchen.Drew showed up to ask questions and she was there to answer them: her mother had a special ornament for each of the kids with their names on them so they'd each have a memory of childhood. He would have to do a lot of shopping to catch up while she told him just get a few special ones per year. I also havespecial ones that go on our tree and they do make it very special every year. She doesn't have time to help him with Noah til Martha finds out and shoos her out of the house.Love how the book got it's title... There are many moments of hand holding and kisses and hugging but she gets rescued when Noah is nearby. She says it's all a mistake and he informs her even from a distance he can carry on a relationship with her. No matter what goes wrong, Doc is there to fix it.Loved hearing of the cookie baking as i've yet to make gingerbread men and never thought of how to decorate them...

***3.5 out of 5 stars***I was lucky enough to get an early copy of Doc Holiday from NetGalley thanks to the publisher. I love how the Loveswept Classic line is helping me find so many new to me authors.I really enjoyed Doc Holiday. I’m a sucker for a love story where the hero and heroine have had feelings for one another since they met in their teens. Taylor and Drew are that type of couple. Drew is six years older than Taylor, so he was warned off of her by her older brother when they were kids, but neither has ever forgotten the other. When Drew finally gets custody of his little boy Noah, he knows Taylor is the perfect person to make their Christmas better. The chemistry between Taylor and Drew is really great. I liked them as a couple, but could see that Taylor had issues with getting into a relationship with a ready-made family. Taylor had been the one to step in after her mother died when she was a teen to help raise her 4 younger brothers and keep the house running like her mother had. I could see how much Taylor loved both Drew and Noah from early on. Drew and Taylor are a great couple. I loved how they had both loved one another for years.Doc Holiday and was a fast, fun and sexy holiday read. The official ebook release date was November 12, 2012 and can be purchased from your favorite online bookstore.

This book tell the story of Taylor who was asked by Drew to assist to make a different for his son during the season of giving as Drew have no idea of how to make a happy occasion for his son, Noah who has recently been placed under his custody. Taylor is very reluctant to his request given the fact that Drew is her first love and the feeling has not been diminished since then. But how could she refuses when Noah's happiness is at stake. Taylor is a softhearted women and responsible person. She have more or less been carrying the family responsibility onto her shoulder, making sure that the family is run as what she think it should be. When Drew begun to pursue her, she is holding back because she worried that Drew wanting her only because of his Noah. It is heartbreaking for me to read about that scene where Taylor rejected Drew's proposal when it is so clearly that both of them loved each other very much. Overall, this book is a great book to read and i thoroughly enjoyed reading it.. even shed a few teardrops at the end of the book ;)

Doc Holiday by Debra Dixon is a fun and touching holiday story.Drew Haywood is back in town and he will not stop until he gets Taylor Bishop to help him give his son a Bishop Christmas. Even if he can’t really explain what it is he just knows that he liked that feeling he had with the Bishops during the holidays and he wants that for his son.Taylor Bishop wants nothing to do with Drew. He broke her heart when she was younger and she has never been able to get little piece back.Read More...
