Let me just say that I was ready to write a review for this book before I even finished it, but to be thorough and well informed, I completed it before sharing my opinion. So allow me to apologize for my long winded review.I "stumbled" across this book a few months ago as I was researching for a beauty campaign that I was doing with my bible study group. (I use quotations because I know that nothing in Christ is accidental). I typed in the word "beauty" in my library's data base and among a host of other books, this one appeared. I was drawn to the words "beautiful" and "purpose", as well as the purple clay jar (which is my favorite color by the way, and I have an unexplained love affair with clay jars). I decided to give it a shot and see if I could find any information that would help my campaign. Boy, was I in for a treat! This book spoke to me much more than it helped my 30 Days of Spiritual Makeup Campain; God meant for me to read this book.As mentioned in the title of my review, this book isn't for everyone. You will probably know if this book is for you just from reading the first few pages. Personally, I feel as though this book was written with me in mind. I was absolutely amazed at the rhema word that I received by way of this book that I just happened upon.As difficult as it was, I had to stop reading at around chapter 3, return this book to the library, and order my own copy from Amazon because I highlighted so much and written all kind of notes in the margin spaces.Mrs. Larson used some of the exact terminology that God has been using to speak to me for the past year or so. Exact terminology! Word for word, she wrote in her book things that God has been speaking to my heart. And these arent typical church cliches either, these are things that I never heard before until about a year or so ago when God starting speaking them into my heart. It was almost as if God was saying, "I hear the prayers of your heart". I was outdone in the introduction. AMAZING!!I write reviews to share my opinions with others as I give the author feedback on their work. I can tell that this is one of those books that I will revisit time and time again--it's now on my short list of Christian Education books that have helped to realign my spiritual eye sight. I can't make it mean to you what it has meant to me. All I can do is share with you an avenue that God has used to minister to my heart.Again, sorry for the long review, but I believe in sharing what I love.P.S. I bet the highlighted, written in library copy blesses someone lol.

This is an excellent book that is practical and encouraging. It is easy to read and flows from one chapter to the next with plenty of helpful advice on finding your purpose. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I read the book in one sitting and then went back and answered the questions that were found at the end of each chapter. This book would be great to use in a Bible Study Group, Sunday School Class or just for your own personal devotions. I would recommend all women read this book. You will be encouraged and definitely grow in your relationship with the Lord and your family.I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Your Beautiful Purpose by Susie Larson is a book I chose to review with a decent level of interest in seeing what was written about what God can do through us. Even in the midst of a huge move, I kept up with reading this book almost every day until I finished it! The lay out was wonderful ... each chapter started with a relevant verse and quote. I noticed right away - the writing backed by Scripture so I jotted down each Scripture reference shared to look up more in depth as I went. I ended up with a few pages worth! Very nice to have all the points better understood through God's Word. The book starts out with encouragement for the reader to push past unbelief and "trust Jesus to move forward in faith" and the whole book supports this to the end. I personally was inspired to make God's call a higher priority in my life and to follow His lead and not the zillions of distractions swamping every day. I considered having a Woman's Bible study in my home or at church using this book!

A Good Read for Finding PurposeThis book has some great thought-provoking questions at the end of each chapter so would be good for small group discussion, but I just used them for journaling. Susie provides lots of good pointers for surviving and thriving in different stages of your spiritual journey and encouragement on how to find and embrace God's vision for your life."Nothing is more beautiful than a strong, humble, God-fearing woman who knows who He is and Whose she is."Amen! :-)

About the Book:We so want each day to matter--to serve God in big and small ways. Active in local ministry as well as International Justice Mission, she has authored six previous books and been a guest on national TV and radio programs, including Focus on the Family. Susie and her husband, Kevin, have three adult sons and live near Minneapolis, Minnesota. Learn more at susielarson.com.My Review: Just like Peter did when he asked Jesus if he could walk out on the water also and then as he started to really realize what he was doing and then lost his faith or sent it floundering, he started to sink. Our God is always right there just like Jesus was. To pick us up and re-steady us until the next time our faith takes a dip and we start to stumble again. Susie Larson uses this illustration as a guide into showing you that you shouldn't be afraid when God has a specific purpose, plan, or call He has summoned you to do for Him. Are you the harried housewife with the far away look in your eye? The dream never realized because you have to cook dinner or take the kids to soccer practice or your husband needs his shirt ironed again. The author explains that we should put our trust and faith in the impossible. Just trust upon Him to take what we can't make sense of to turn it all around for our good. He is really great at making things work when it seems it will take the impossible or even a miracle to come to pass. This book can be done alone or with a group. There are study questions and discussion starters in it as well.**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Bethany House Publishers.

This is what I would call a meditative book. It is a book to be read slowly and thoughtfully. Full of Scripture and scriptural principles, this book takes us straight to the heart of God. Susie also shares her personal experiences openly and honestly. The book is divided into six sections:· Embrace Your Purpose· Trust God's Timing· Hear God's Voice· Believe God's Word· Walk by Faith· Take New TerritorySusie Larson has a gift for making you feel right at home. Within these pages holds liberty and peace from much that invades our hearts. Using personal stories to illustrate each stage of this journey, Susie is able to identify with the struggles which come with moving toward the purpose God had in mind."Your Beautiful Purpose", is just that. Susie shares the insights to finding our purpose and what to do with it once we find it. This book is loaded with scripture and quotes that set your mind soaring. Her words are so sincere as if she really knows your pain and situation. You could read this book in many ways. Read it as a complete book alone, or as a Bible study or even a devotional. This is a book I will read over and over again. This book is going to help you grow. It's going to bring you to the place where you convene with the Lord and seek your purpose. These pages are filled with passion and God's promise. .Included in this book is a six-week study which can be done individually and in a group.I found this book confirmed things that I have been pondering. It is a book which I will turn to again and again, and pass around for friends to read. Beautifully written, I can't recommend this book highly enough.I received a copy of this book free of charge from Bethany House Publishers for the purpose of an honest review.

Thank you to Bethany House and Netgalley sending me this wonderful Bible Study for review. Susie Larson asks this question what is Your Beautiful Purpose? The author proposes that we all have a calling or a purpose. We the readers often scratch our heads trying to figure out what is this for us? She shares anecdotes from her own life as she explains different parts of the purpose that we are intended for. She explains that we do have a calling and that we have a choice to follow it or not. How do you follow it? Study in God’s word. We need to listen to God and follow his plan. We need to actively serve. My Thoughts:I have to say that timing played a factor in when I was able to cover the study. I also found that it profoundly impacted my life. To review this Bible Study I tried to participate in it like normal. This being said the only negative I had was not being able to have access to the video segments which I feel would have greatly enhanced my experience. The book is divided into six chapters with questions that follow the end of each chapter. For me the opportunity to grow in Christ is the most important aspect of who I am. So if you are looking for a study that will challenge you then this is the book for you? For those who are in a different place in their walk then it is an introduction to the tools to continue to grow.

Age Appropriate For: All AgesBest for Ages: 18+ for style and reading levelWhen I requested Your Beautiful Purpose, I was hoping for a jump start for a bible time, but I found so much more.We all go through times when we doubt if what we are doing has real meaning. We wonder if we are doing what we are supposed to be doing or just messing everything up. This book is a wonderful reminder that God has a beautiful and amazing purpose for our lives, even when we have trouble seeing it.Susie style was soothing for my weary soul. Unlike many books that are either fluffy or full of meat, Susie found a happy medium. Her style was soft enough that, as I said, it soothed me but it had enough power drew me closer to God.I loved the study at the end of each chapter. Reading the suggested verses and then writing my answers to the questions was so helpful. It not only helped me to delve deeper into the subject, but it also helped me discover things about myself.I highly recommend this book for women who need a book to lift their spirits, sooth there soul, and draw them closer to the god that loves them.I received this book from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review. I was under no obligation to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are entirely my own.

This was the first bible study we did with our neighborhood group. We all really enjoyed the way the information is presented. There is a DVD that has 20-30 minute sessions for every 2 chapters. Each chapter has 7 questions that are based on Scripture and 5 discussion starters. Great bible study book!

This was our "Busy Moms" book club selection at church and all the discussions were on-line. I found that the book complemented several other studies that I was doing at the same time. This was a good study that made me really look myself and how I was using my time and gifts.

Susie does not disappoint as she leads you into examining your life and find the purpose that God intends for you. She shares some hard things she has gone through but doesn't dwell on the difficulties she shows how leaning in to see God at work helps get through those tough spots on this journey. Learning to use the life experiences to prepare you for your future. Love the scripture she supplies to go along with these lessons. Highly recommend this one. We used it a small group study and the women all seemed to enjoy the book along with the DVD that accompanied it and helped facilitate and direct discussion.

Studied this one with a group of women at my new church in Holland. Thoroughly enjoyed our conversations surrounding this one but didn't so much enjoy the 7 in-depth questions to answer for every single chapter! Oy, so much homework! So many things resonated with me but I think I found most helpful the very practical tips for what to do or what to watch out for in the various seasons in life. However, our group all agreed that we wished she would have focused on these early on in the book rather than at the end.

Your Beautiful Purpose is a book both tender and touching. Ephesians Two teaches us that we are God's workmanship, created in Christ for good works, and He has prepared these works in advance for us to walk in them. This is our beautiful purpose: To Glorify God and Enjoy Him forever. This is a purpose beyond our wildest dreams and greatest desires. The outworking of this purpose comes when we find where God would have us go and what He would have us do. For many of us those good works may be right here where we are at the moment... for some these may be on the other side of the world where we never imagined we would be called to go. It may be what we always thought we were made for. It may steal upon us like a slow spring twilight and we realize "God is in this. This is where He wants me." So often we women have a hard time believing that we are God's own artwork and that we have God's work to do and His blessing upon that work. We have a hard time believing that God will or can use in a way that Glorifies Him magnificently. We will have a hard time until we see that He delights in making beauty out of brokenness. No Saint has lived a life of beauty because of their own inner goodness and usefulness. No. They have been beautiful because God is God of creating beauty from brokenness, beauty that he defines and designs, beauty that comes from living out his purposes. The most touching parts of this book were Susie Larson's own story, revealed in a way that lets us see into her spirit. She has walked through the seasons in this book...seasons of seeing the top of the tapestry God is weaving when all the threads make lovely sense, and seasons of not seeing much of the design at all. Seasons of wondering how being "Here" is serving God, and seasons of knowing in her soul that her gifts are glorifying Him. Thank you Mrs. Larson for sharing your story.God is calling us, let us answer Him. Let us whisper the prayer "O God, call us even more insistently, knocking at the door of our hearts and bidding us follow Christ as humbly dependent, boldly confident women." This can be our prayer. God has a purpose for every saved soul- if you are His and have breath in your lungs you have a beautiful purpose.I received this book from Bethany House.

Your Beautiful Purpose: Discovering and Enjoying What God Can Do Through You by Susie Larson, is a wonderfully thought provoking book about finding the will that God has for your life. When I first started this book, I wasn't entirely sure what to make of it. I mean, who doesn't want to know the purpose of your life? Obviously it is something that we all want. Direction. To know we are making the correct choices, to know that our lives are moving in the way that God chooses. But, how do you figure out God's purpose?Well, that is what this book shows you how to do. It is wonderfully written, has personable stories from the author, and my favorite part - real hard questions at the end of each chapter. They make you take a real hard look at your life, and what you are doing. What direction are you moving in? Is it really the direction you should be moving? What struck me the most about this book was how Susie showed us that we have to give up our own dreams in order to figure out what God wants us to do. Maybe we are clouding our minds so much with what we want we are unable to hear what He wills. It was a big eye-opener for me. I thought that the questions were really great for a group setting or for individual reading. This would be a wonderful book to work through with a women's group in your church. But, I think reading it on my own, and really being able to think about the words of this book was what worked for me.I received a copy of this book for free from Bethany House in return for an honest review. The opinions are my own.

Imagine a warm, sunny day. The grass is soft and bug-free, the temperature just perfect for relaxing. The water gently trickles over rocks and other obstacles. Perhaps this isn't your ideal place for relaxation, but can picture myself stretching out on a blanket, soaking in the sun as my muscles let go of their tension. This kind of gentle release and refreshment is exactly what Susie Larson's book Your Beautiful Purpose was for me.God knows full well whom He's getting when He calls us. page 19What I LikedMrs. Larson's writing is simple and conversational, much like a letter written specifically to me rather than a book to a large audience. She conveys a lot of truth within the 230 pages of this book, always with great love, patience, and humility. I found many things to highlight, circle, and make notes of throughout the book. Several things made me stop to think and I walked away at the end of the book with new insights into myself and fresh encouragement to stay the course God's plotted for me.The Bottom Line - 5 starsIf you'd like a renewed vision of how God sees you and what He wants for you, then this is a great book to read. The six-session DVD makes it a great book for a small group study, and the end of chapter questions help each individual evaluate what could be learned or refreshed in each participant's heart.

When I first began reading Susie Larson's book Your Beautiful Purpose, I anticipated another author extolling the virtues of being a woman in God's kingdom. Although that subject is one I dearly enjoy to read about, I found myself pleasantly surprised to see that the message of her book went above and beyond. Women are the intended audience of this book, however the truths found within it can easily be applied to men as well. Larson addresses in a nonsensical and no fluff way our responsibilities and privileges as Christians, along with the fears and insecurities that we often allow to inhibit our progress.Although Larson's theology might be a bit more charismatic than what I am used to, she is careful to provide Scriptural support for the claims she makes. This book is not something to be read quickly and lightly. Rather, the truths it contains should be slowly digested. I also strongly encourage readers to work through the discussion questions, as they provide good food for thought and introspection. The only thing I didn't care for in this book is that varying translations of the Bible were used to quote Scripture, rather than the consistent usage of one translation. Overall, I strongly encourage other Christians to read and digest this book. I walked away feeling encouraged and full of questions and thoughts to consider regarding my walk with Christ.

Read this book as part of a book group. It was a great book to read with friends although it can get very personal so make sure it's good friends. This book was very encouraging to me. I loved how everything was backed with scriptures. It had the feel of an older sister giving encouragement to love God with all your heart, dream big and that push to put those dreams and that love for Gods kingdom into practice. It was full if practical advice and examples. I read this book coming off a very difficult two years. I've woken up and no longer feel numb and lifeless. Things have really been changing and I feel God really directing my path and so this was encouraging with that but also practical in areas to watch and be aware of as gifts and callings begin to move my life forward. As a mom about to turn 40 this book really breathed some life back into my Christian walk. I gave this book to friends heading off to college too. I highlighted so much of it, wrote all over the margins and filled up a lot if my notebook working through the study and discussion questions. This book really got me to think about and evaluate a lot. It really lit a fire in me to glorify God by living out the purpose he has birthed in my heart.

Susie Larson's "Your Beautiful Purpose" thoughtfully and effectively pairs a Word-centered framework with personal anecdotes to help readers embrace their value and opportunities in God's Kingdom work. Susie is vulnerable and authentic while capturing the wonder of trusting Jesus. Her book will inspire and empower readers who feel stuck, confused or anxious to experience the adventure of following Jesus -- whether it involves waiting, walking, resting or running in His ways! The companion study provides a welcoming and meaningful atmosphere for Bible exploration and personal discovery. While affirming the reader's own sense of vision, Susie carefully guides us through a pursuit of understanding that doesn't allow our tendency toward seeking personal significance to eclipse God's call and timing.Susie's urge to, "leverage this day to your advantage" will be spurring me to fully embrace my inheritance in Christ for many seasons to come!

I really really loved this book. I plan on using it as the next Bible Study for our ladies group this summer. Each chapter ends with study questions as well as discussion starters. The bullet points on the back cover of this book describe it perfectly. 1 Discern the best use of your time and gifts. 2. Confidently pursue God's unique desires for you and 3. Stretch your faith and deepen your impact. Lay down lesser commitments and lay hold of God's beautiful purpose for your life. I see that there is an accompanying teaching DVD that goes along with this book and I also plan on purchasing that for our group. It was perfectly timed for the season of my life. I don't believe I am alone as a woman in her 40s still searching for my purpose! This book really does feel like an encouraging note from a friend, inspiring me to be all I was meant to be in Christ Jesus.

Enjoy this beautiful book, a lot of tears shed but amazing promises from God. the gift of passing through the seasons with joy, thanksgiving, perseverance, patience and trusting the Lord for the next road. God is faithful and it was so worth it to take the time and join a group of women in a church to walk together with this material. It was God speaking to me while walking in faith in a new season. I took advantage of every single assignment by buying a notebook and writing everything that God speaks to me during that time. I highly recommend this amazing book to all the women that going through life and want to stop for a second, breath and give God your place in life to show you His perfect will and lean on Him not on your own understanding. He is perfect and his seasons right on time to shape you and equipped you!!

I was reminded as I read this book that I do have a God-given purpose and I need to be open to find out what it is. This book gives you a sense of self, purpose, and constantly reminds you how much God loves you and what good things he has planned for you. However, this is not an easy journey. This book requires you to dig deep, using God's word to analyze and discover things in yourself that will lead you to your beautiful purpose. It will encourage, inspire and challenge you to embrace God's purposes for you. This is one book you will want to share with friends, family or your bible study group!

Great book if you want to really dig in and start figuring out what your God-given purpose. Larson takes the reader through four seasons she believes all believers journey through on their way through their faith journey in this life: run, rest, stand, active waiting! She asks some tough questions, provides insight, and encourages us all at the same time! It's a must read for any woman wanting to discover her beautiful purpose for Christ.

Read this for work...it was interesting to think about my calling, but this book didn't actually define what she meant by a calling or discuss how to identify one. I found the charismatic language off-putting (esp "taking territory" or God "increasing your land"). I probably agreed with most of what was said, but I didn't feel informed or inspired.

I started this one and didn't complete it and not sure I will. I picked it as a book club book, as a non-fiction read based on some radio interviews I had heard. It is good, but ended up being more of a Bible study. This is one you could spend quite a bit of time on and even do as a group, but was not great for just a read through. Just haven't gotten back to it.

I read and used this as a personal bible study life application book. The author has a gift for helping others discover and use their talents and abilities as Christ would want them to. Encouraging and motivational author with beautifully inspired stories to share.
