I just love this series. It's short, sweet, and so much fun. Seeing Noelle and Andy again, happy and lovey-dovey, was a nice bonus. In Behind Closed Doors, we get to follow Julia this time, who was such a riot in the first book of the series. Where Noelle was the "good girl," Julia was more of the wild one. After spending the summer as the third wheel to Noelle and Andy, Julia is ready for a cutesy relationship of her own. Or at a minimum a hot distraction from Noelle and Andy. She gets bold and wastes no time aggressively flirting with a hot guy eating alone at the pub she’s at with her friends. After some fun innuendos and a few drinks, Julia knows she better leave before she gets herself in trouble. Only she ends up running into THAT frat guy. The one you never want to be alone with. Thankfully Darren decides to check on her and takes care of frat boy. One thing leads to another, after all he’s a good guy, and they end up at his place. While Julia wants more with Darren, she knows it may not happen after their first night. But she enjoys fantasizing about their night together. Imagine her surprise, when on her first day of fall classes, she finds Darren standing at the front of the classroom. He’s her T.A. Awkward! We quickly learn Darren is one of the good guys. My first thought was, yeah right. He’s a guy, he should have forgotten about her the moment he shut the front door. But I have to say most of the guys I knew in college were good guys. So Darren actually wanting to pursue something with Julia isn’t far fetched. Too bad school policy dictates that a T.A. can’t date his/her students. Julia comes up with options to work things out, but Darren is hesitant. He’s hiding something from her.I enjoyed the sparks between Julia and Darren and the unusual ways they find time for each other. Behind Closed Doors is a cute, quick read that entertains until the last paragraph. Watching Julia go from spunky and daring to slightly insecure and love sick is adorable. I cringed at some of her choices, but we’ve all been there and would probably make the same ones. That makes the story real.I adore the Campus Crush series. I love that the main characters are freshman, stuck between being a teenager and an adult. They struggle with wanting to make adult decisions while reacting emotionally like the teenagers they still are. The first year of college is a huge first step into adulthood and Ashelyn Drake has created characters that truly portray the experience.

Noelle has Andy and Julia, well Julia is the third wheel, but she wants nothing more than to have what Noelle has. Someone to go out with, someone to cuddle with, someone to be with, someone like Darren; the bartender she meets one night while playing the third wheel. Now she is over the heels and over head with Darren. Things are complicated and sticky, but Julia is determined to make things work.Julia wants things to work with Darren. He has changed all her preconceived notions on dating and men. The problem is that she wants things to work so bad she is willing to do and say anything to ensure it does. Quickly her words of deceit come back to haunt her and her relationship might very well be over before it even starts. Underneath the deception lies a true attraction, a real heat that neither Julia or Darren can deny. One that I have to say made for some really steamy scenes. The chemistry between these two really lit up the pages. I couldn't help but route for them as they struggled to find a way to make their relationship work. And not just for the steamy scenes they had together, but because I genuinely liked both characters. Julia is that fun bubbly friend who bounces from one guy to the next, while Darren is the fun loving guy living in the shadow of his father. Both are trying to get away from their past or the past of others.Behind Closed Doors is a really fun quick read that will leave you slightly breathless and will make you think about all the things you missed out in college. Behind Closed Doors has a great balance between steam, passion and genuine chemistry and Ashelyn Drake does a great job of making you fall for her characters and their story in a short period of time. If you need a quick steamy read, Behind Closed Doors is the book for you! You just might want to keep a fan by your side ;)*Received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

Not being a reader who is easily won over with contemporary romance genres, I found Behind Closed Door a nice, easy-to-read novel that definitely held my interest. The story line was well thought out, and the challenges and dilemma were definitely fresh and intriguing. However, truthfully, I really was not impressed with the main character, Julia. She really came off desperate throughout the novel. For example, despite the fact that she found out Darren was her TA and off limits, she still plunged head long in her effort to get into his pants. Plus, I also found the freak-out moments afterward when Darren wouldn’t text or call her very off-putting. I just couldn’t stand her behavior. On the other hand, I was pleased with Darren. With how many ways this kind of relationship could and does go wrong in real life, I appreciated how he handled the situation. At least he’s honorable and honest. I’m looking forward to see what other trouble lies in the Campus Romance series. For more book reviews, you can also visit my website over at Ketch’s Book Nook. Thank you.

One word to describe this book:Cheesy.First of all, this isn't a novel, but rather a novella. It's short, simple and sweet. It was only 268 pages in my iBooks app. The plot was cute interesting. However, the only thing that really bugged me was how simple the conflict or climax was resolved. It didn't have the big intensity and passion I had hoped it would have. The story was short so there wasn't much plot, but there definitely was action and cuteness. It was kind of awkward or so I thought when the lovers had a connection with his parents love story. I thought it was kind of weird but cute at the same time. The thing about a novella is that you don't have as many pages to flesh out a character or develop them as much. Not much of ether d those happened considering this is barely 300 pages in Ebook form, so tat was pretty decent considering the significant amount of less pages from a novella to a novel.Overall a cute story, but not the intensity, dramatic, passionate, romance story/novel I'm looking for. This was Incredibly cute though

2,5 starsIt's a tad to insta and uber-fast for me. Oh and add to that kinda obsessive and rather melodramatic. But it's well written and I keep hoping for more... so I keep reading these!

Ashelyn has a knack for romance and creating situations with characters we can identify with. Julia is tired of not having someone to hold her hand, she wants what her best friend has. I have definitely felt like the third wheel and yearned for what my friends had regarding romance.I noticed some similarities with the mocha cake and the yogurt scene from Romancing the R.A., but that might've stood out more for me since I read them back-to-back. Julia also felt like a different person in this story compared to the first one where she spoke her mind and was funny. I missed the humor, but there is more sensuality in this story, which is just as entertaining and certainly made up for it. I enjoyed the twists in Behind Closed Doors, the lies and the confrontations when the lies came out. I was engaged from beginning to end. I really liked Darren, too. There's nothing more alluring than a forbidden (not to mention sexy) older man.

Julia meets Darren at a pub. One thing leads to another and she winds up at his place. She never meant for anything serious to happen, but her feelings towards Darren are undeniable. Several problems arise. First, she led him to believe she’s older than she really is—she’s a freshman, not the grad student he thinks she is—and she receives a shock in class when she sees Darren emerge behind her professor as a T.A. Teacher assistants aren’t supposed to be dating students. They can both get into serious trouble with a firing and an expulsion. Between the lying and this situation, will their relationship last? This short and sweet NA novella had plenty of tension.

Not a novel... A short novella... I'm not sure what to think of this. The writing is decent and the storyline is okay, but went into this thinking it was a full length novel... Has potential.
