her olives Reviews

The poet's voice shines through as she writes of heritage, nationality, politics, and resistance. My favorite poem in the collection was the title piece, "Her Olives." I wish some poems had gone into more detail, such as the one about the Palestinian wedding: What was the traditional dress? Which instruments were played? What did the author learn when she attended? The collection could have benefited more from showing rather than telling. Overall, I enjoyed this collection.

This is a powerful collection of poetry that features the author’s passion for family, culture, and homeland. Anger mixes in with love, understanding, and hopes for peace. Fida is a young lady with a great poetic voice and she has a lot to share. I look forward to reading more from this author.
