must love ghosts Reviews
Mon avis en FrançaisMy English reviewWhen I started the book, I was very surprised to see that the story had only a hundred of pages. I expected a long novel but it’s true that it’s also nice to have shorter stories to read them in one go. It must be said that the theme is really appealing: ghosts? How not resist to that! But it is true that in the end I have not really been able to hold on to the whole…Tia is a young woman who believes only about rational and scientific facts, but when she is confronted in with her ex, a paranormal investigator, she is once again rather doubtful about his capabilities. But when her dead uncle appears at home and threatens her career as well as the grant she expects for her research, our heroine is not very happy. Oh not at all. Forced to team up with Dec to get rid of her uncle, their irresistible attraction is reborn and the girl will have to decide what she really wants. It was an interesting story even if it’s pretty basic but I confess that, as I said, I couldn’t really get into it. I’m not saying that this is not good but I think I expected a little more from it. Not a lot of things and at the same time everything happens fast enough that I could not really appreciate the characters or the story. However, I’m sure the book will appeal to many others.
How can you pass up a blurb that contains '1-800-GHOST-HUNK'? I certainly couldn't and I'm glad I didn't. Must Love Ghosts by Jennifer Savalli was such a fun read. This short quirky story was exactly what I needed. Dec is a hubba-hubba ghosthunter, excuse me, paranormal investigator. Tia is a 'almost engaged' professor determined to prove love is nothing more than a biochemical cocktail. But once upon a time they were a hot and heavy item. When strange things started happening in her home she immediately assumed Dec was behind her trouble. With Dec's help she finds out what is going on. Turns out her problem is actually more of a after-life issue - an after-life with a sense of humor! The story starts out quick paced and carries that way straight through to the end. Lot's of snappy dialog and humorous antics from they dead keep this story moving along. On occasion I had an urge to shake Tia, but she does redeem herself. With the of exception of Richard I enjoyed all the quirky characters. The ending wasn't too surprising but I still enjoyed it. As my first book by author Jennifer Savalli, I must say it was very satisfying. Looking forward to seeing where she goes with this series. Tia is a psychologist with a strictly scientific approach to life. Love? Pfft, that's simply a chemical reaction. Better to base a relationship on friendship and companionship than smoking hot sex...How unfortunate for her smoking hot ex; Dec! To make matters even worse for the poor guy he is a ghost hunter. But that doesn't stop him from pining after the little psychologist. All he needs is one tiny excuse to slip back into her life. That excuse presents itself when Tia inherits the ashes of her long deceased grand uncle when her Nana passes away. And Billy the ghost is not about to take her "bah humbug, ghosts don't excist" for an answer - he's got unfinished business on Earth and Tia is the one that can help him...You know what you get when you pick up this novel: A little drama, a little angst, a sleazy colleague and a HEA. And entertaining read, but not in any way a groundbreaking story.
Book Review originally published here: http://www.iheartreading.net/mini-rev...Tia doesn’t believe in ghosts, but when her dead uncle shows up, she might be forced to change her opinion. And when on top of that her ex-boyfriend, a paranormal investigator, makes a reapparance in her life and it seems like things are about to turn hot and heavy between them again, she’s in for a fun and quirky adventure. Despite that, the plot is pretty basic and the characters are a little flat too. Not a bad read, but not that great either.
This fun novella is a quick read with plenty of ghostly goings on, a fair dose of romance and more than a few mind-changing moments. Tia is an academic who doesn’t believe in letting emotions rule her life, so it’s no wonder she has no time for the paranormal. In fact her only ghostly encounter to date has been her ill-fated relationship with ghost hunter, Dec, who she almost got arrested for fraud after he broke into her office and she ended their relationship. Now strange things are happening in her house and she knows just who to blame. Except Dec has no idea what she’s on about. Dec has spent his whole life searching for hard evidence that he can present to the world to legitimise his paranormal investigations. When Tia’s ghost offers him a chance to prove himself before the world, he soon finds himself wondering what’s more important – having Tia back in his life, or proving to the world that he’s neither a fraud nor a fool.Tia and Dec are both equally determined to be taken seriously in their professional life, but while the ghost might be the making of Dec’s career, its prank-filled antics threaten to ruin Tia’s. Then again, her jerk of a research colleague, Richard, seems likely to handle that bit all on his own. Tia might be a bit uptight at times and she definitely comes across as a snob, but I so wanted her to succeed against Richard. Oh, and work things out with Dec, who’s fun and a bit rugged, even if he is a bit foolish at times. However, for me, the book was stolen by the ghost. His ill-timed pranks and secret heartache made him into a real character and he raised this tale from a nice enough romance to a fun, quick read. If you’re looking for a light paranormal romance to help you while away a couple of hours, then you should try this. I look forward to seeing where this series heads next.(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
Fun things some in small packages, or in this case, short stories. Tia is having some “issues” in her home and she thinks her ex, Dec, is behind it. Dec is a paranormal investigator (aka ghost hunter) and they discover that her issues are in the form of a ghost. The ghost offers to help Dec boost his career by proving that he is real. But, that could cost Tia and Dec has to decide if he wants to hurt her to make a name for himself. This was a fun and quick read – perfect for the summer. The dialogue was funny and the ghostly pranks were hilarious! I honestly loved the ghost more than the other characters*I received a complimentary copy of this book for review.
I loved this book. It was fun, funny, and an engaging story. The characters drew me in immediately and I was hooked from the very first page. At times, it was laugh out loud funny and I loved the antics of the ghost. This is the first book I've read by this author and I am looking forward to her future works. She is very talented and is an author to watch.. She has been added to my must read authors list.Thank you to Netgalley for providing a complementary ARC in exchange for an honest review.
What a refreshing change from the normal ghost stories. This has some humor, some betrayal, and some steamy romance in it. What is not to enjoy? This is a first book in a new series by this author and I look forward to reading the next chapter in this quirky afterlife world.
