I really enjoy this series. They are all light and funny, but action-packed and suprising at every turn. This book had me laughing out loud, getting mad enough to claw out the bad girls eyes, and almost in tears, all in the span of 50 pages!! Great characters that grow and change each book, and a cast of supporting characters that you can't help but fall more in love with each and every book. I can't wait for the next installment to find out what kind of trouble Nicki manages to get herself into.

It’s hard to get into the Christmas Cheer when the Three Fates want to steal your boyfriend.Nicki Styx can see the dead. Over a year ago, she almost died and when she was revived, she found she could see and talk to the dead. She helps the spirits cross over into the light. She’s been with Joe for over a year now and they’ve been through many things together that have only made their relationship stronger. But one night, Nicki is suddenly wide awake and unable to move as three faces hover over the bed, a crone, a beautiful woman, and a young girl. They vow that she will pay and that they will take Joe from her.Joe is suddenly having erotic night dreams that are really causing a rift in his relationship with Nicki. She explains to him that it’s the Three Fates who are at work here trying to split them up, but he doesn't believe her. When he suddenly finds her in Sammy’s arms, the devil himself, she breaks up with her. She is heart broken and devastated, but is determined to stop the Three Fates from ensnaring Joe in their web at any cost.SILENT NIGHT, HAUNTED NIGHT, BOOK 4 is another great addition to the series. Humor, romance, mystery and a cast of ghosts will have you turning the pages late into the night. Nicki is a phenomenal character who makes some hard choices and does some growing up in this latest installment. Ghoulishly Fantastic!

Is this the end for Nikki and Joe? A malevolent triad of spirits has their sights set on Joe and it looks like Nikki may lose him for good. Akk! This is one stressful read, it seems like the more that Nikki tries to fight for Joe the more he slips from her grasp. But don't fear, all is not lost. Fortunately the powers of evil are balanced by the powers of good and Nikki gets a little help from an unexpected ally. When all is said and done, and anxious ridden moments aside, I really liked Silent Night Haunted Night. I find Garey's series to be very fun and entertaining and after four books I am quite attached to the cast. I do have to say though from a series point of view that the Silent Night Haunted Night has a very finished feel, it wraps everything up in a nice little bow - which is appropriate since the final scene is in front of the Christmas tree, but it did leave me wondering whether there will be more Nikki books from Garey or if this is the end.

Nicki Styx is such a great character! I'm a sucker for these strong feminine leads! Her great fashion sense, pink hair and sexy doctor boyfriend, Joe Bascombe, make this a wonderful addition to the series. There's nothing like Christmas to bring out the Devil, Eve and all the spirits that Nicki can handle. She almost loses Joe and we get a glimpse of her future - a daughter and four grandchildren. Her angsty relationship with Sammy only gets more complicated - we definitely haven't seen the last of him.

Finally, I knew if I hung in there it would all be good. I really truly enjoyed this book. Even the parts that frustrated me to no end. Even though I've never met a perfect, sexy, single, straight doctor. Interestingly enough I have met a hot, straight, single, pot head, womanizing mechanic, so I guess there is something I can relate to! LOL. It kind of felt like the end of the series, and if it is, it's a great place to end it. If not, I hope the stories continue on this upward cycle.

The Devil’s Bargain dedicata all’affascinante Diavolo, Sammy? Buona lettura a tutti!

The fourth and last installment in the Nicki Styx series about the pink hair vintage goth chic who had a NDE and now sees dead people starts out with a bang!Nicki wakes up at 3:00am to find an old lady, a beautiful women and a child floating over her bed and over hears a very strange conversation but she is unable to move or speak and falls fast asleep afterwards. Upon waking up she has to question whether it was a dream or not until the beautiful woman walks into her store that morning. Nicki is instantly suspicious but Evan waves her off and states “Jealousy does not become you, darling.” But after boyfriend Joe shows up at the store and plays hero to a familiar looking grandma and child she knows something is not right in Little Five Points.Selena, Mary and Kate, otherwise known as The Fates, want revenge on Nicki and Selena is looking forward to seducing good-looking Dr. Joe Bascombe away from Nicki and making her life a living hell.It seems no one will believe Nicki when she tries to tell them about the evil succubus Selena, least of all Joe, until an unlikely source shows up to help her out.But when a confused spirit running from the darkness that left behind a teenage son shows up Nicki must choose to either help them or possibly loose Joe.My thoughts:This book is OMG good; I absolutely LOVED it, a smash ending to Terri Garey’s Nicki Styx series! I had to force myself to put it down Saturday night so I could get a few hours sleep and then picked it right back up first thing Sunday morning. You are thrown into the action from page one and it continues at a fast pace throughout the book. There is no good stopping point, it’s like a compulsion, you HAVE to turn the page to find out what is going to happen next. Silent Night, Haunted Night is darker then Garey’s previous but still fun and exciting with an easy dialogue and characters you can relate to even if they’re nothing like you. An extremely well written book and series total.Joe steps it up here and shows some character and you really get sucked into the heart and mind of Nicki. Chuck full of suspense, you will find yourself wrapped up in the drama surrounding their relationship and strapped into the front seat of this emotional roller-coaster. I found myself having arguments with Joe in my head in Nicki’s defense while reading. And thinking, “You should have said…” and “THIS is what I would of told him…”Sammy, the super hawt Devil, makes a very surprising and delightful appearance that makes you question whether the devil could have a heart underneath all that darkness. Nicki also finds an un-expected ally along the way and receives a beautiful glimpse of the future that leaves you feeling light and happy. Then the book wraps up in a big nice, neat Christmas bow. It’s rare that you find a series ending as neatly put together as this one.♥♥♥♥♥ - Loved it! I am looking forward to Terri Garey’s spin-off series featuring Sammy Divine. Devil Without a Cause, the first book in her upcoming Devil's Bargain series, will be released in June 2011.*I would compare this book in greatness to Jeaniene Frost's Destined for an Early Grave. And you know that Night Huntress is my ABSOLUTE favorite series EVER so that is giving this book very high marks indeed.

SILENT NIGHT, HAUNTED NIGHT was pretty heart stopping at moments. I really felt the pain and frustration that went with this plot. This time, Nicki has angered the Dark side with her constant interference and her weakness she’s causing in the Devil. Now she is up against a Selene, aka Lilith (who got Sammy and herself kicked out of heaven) who wants her man’s attention by any means necessary. Selene disguises her way into Joe’s life. Despite her warnings, it only drives her and Joe farther apart as Selene makes herself comfortable in Joe’s daily life and dreams. Meanwhile, Nicki’s dealing with a mother who committed suicide and her teenage son who Darkness has set its sights on. In order to help the mother and son, Nicki has to risk her relationship with Joe. Joe gets caught up tight in Selene’s plan and begins questioning Nicki, even breaking up with her, when he not only believes her about Selene but catches her in Sammy’s car. Now he questions everything she once told him. Sammy on the other hand, saves Nicki’s life. From reading THE DEVIL’S BARGAIN series by Terri Garey first, I really have sympathy for Sammy and now want to go back and catch some of the meanings that didn’t make sense before. Sammy is that perfect bad boy that you really shouldn’t like. Nicki also struggles to categorize her feelings. Adding to his Eve story, Sammy explains the love/hate relationship between him and Selene and is able to draw Selene away from Nicki using his charm to heat things up between them once again. Who knows, maybe he really does like Selene in some way. Finally, Joe is at her door, miserable without her and willing to talk things out. Both must face what they did in dreams with Selene and Sammy, but luckily these two are meant for each other. Opening presents, Nicki gets a surprise of her life when Joe gets down on one knee. With a hint from a friendly spirit, Nicki is looking forward to a future together with their little girl.

My Review:Whew! This was a tough book, but absolutely fantastic. Serious issues for Nicki & Joe in this one which made it so hard to read. Heartbreak. Frustration. Disillusionment. Both Nicki & Joe run the whole gamut of emotions in this book, as Joe is the one dealing with temptation and for the first time in the series, questioning Nicki and what she's telling him as truth.Poor Joe has had to deal with some crazy things in this series so far, but his faith to Nicki has been unwavering. Not so in this book. There is a woman after Joe in this book that has a score to settle with Nicki. Nicki knows that she's not human, but Joe doesn't believe her and every time they are together, they wind up fighting about her.To complicate matters, Sammy shows up again and this time Nicki is hurt and disillusioned. She doesn't have as much strenght to resist his allure especially when it seems as if he is actually trying to help her.I really liked that the final book in this series really went back to focus on the relationship between Nicki & Joe. Even though they are having issues, I love these two together. Joe is just such an all-around great guy. He's grown to be such a fun character over the course of the series. He settles Nicki and anchors her when life gets crazy...which it does...a LOT!Overall, I have loved this series. It's been fun and quirky and a fabulous read for something different. I still adore Sammy and loved that in the end, he truly earned that adoration. I hope that someday Terri Garey will be able to write his HEA, but he is the Devil, so hmmm....

I liked this book more than #1 and #2, and probably about the same as #3. First thing, there’s not near enough Sammy. He is far and away my favorite character, and he doesn’t appear until near the end of the book. But what little page time he has is really interesting, especially because we get to find out more about his backstory. Kelly is still in Savannah, which is great because I still think she’s annoying. She mostly pops up to further Nicki’s knowledge of the supernatural, which is good place for her - far away from the bulk of the action. (view spoiler)[ I was super annoyed that she and Spider stole Joe’s thunder, as Joe put it. Way to take the focus out of what could have been a really cool scene to read. Not that it wasn’t glaringly obvious that they were going to get engaged anyway, but still. Poor Joe.(hide spoiler)]I loved that this book had a Christmas theme. Maybe it’s because my birthday is nine days before Christmas, but I’m always a sucker for the holiday stuff. Loved the snowman collection. I loved the mother/maiden/crone aspect of the three fates idea, especially with how it gets explained at the end. The only drawback with them being the antagonists was that putting a spell on Joe made him really stubborn and frustrating to read.

Lately I haven't been starting a new to me series in the middle, but I wanted to read a good holiday paranormal read. I've heard really good things about this one and the first in the series is on the WWBL anyway, so gave it a go...and glad I am I did. I would have passed this book right on by as I sometimes do judge a book by its cover and the cover is deceiving as the book is not about a bare-chested hottie, rather about Nicki Styx and her hottie (possibly sometimes bare-chested) beau, Dr Joe Bascombe. The story is well told, the reader doesn't need to read the series in order to know the characters, I felt like I got to know them fairly quickly. Nicki is going through some issues due to the appearance of the three evil chickies that feel like playing havoc in her life. I feel for Nicki since she's trying to deal with the evil broads and trying to get Joe to understand what they are trying to do to the two of them and their relationship. It definitely makes me want to go get the first in the series, DEAD GIRLS ARE EASY, at the soonest opportunity. Five uber haunted beans....

Great book! I love the series! Nicki Styx can see dead people after a near death experience due to a heart defect. When she died for the few minutes that she did she got a taste of heaven and God telling her it wasn't her time yet and to do unto others as she will have done onto her. So then all of a sudden she is back and seeing dead people who have unfinished business and need to be lead to the light. There are some darker spirits who don't appreciate all this do gooding that Nicki is doing, and they start to mess with her life. One evil demon actually sets out to steal Nicki's boyfriend out of jealousy over the fact that Sammy (Satan) has a thing for Nicki. In the end Sammy actually helps Nicki and even saves her from being killed by the evil demon. Interesting how Garey actually has you feeling a sort of kinship and appreciation towards Satan himself! I like the battle of wills between Sammy and Nicki. Sammy (Satan) seems to have genuine feelings and affection for Nicki, which makes him much more likable and the situation a tad sad.

Things look great in Nikki's life right now. She has a good relationship with her newly found family, store is going great with best friend, and things are great with boyfriend, or at least they are until the forces that be decide to step in and screw with her life.A petty grudge throws Nikki's life in turmoil leaving her to deal with Joe and his perceived notion that she has little sympathy for what he deals with in his patients, while he puts up with her crazy ghost stuff all the time. Nikki knows someone is messing with her life, however she can't seem to convince anyone other than her sister. With her help over the phone they figure out what is going on. She confronts the bad guy and is told she will have to face helping someone or keep Joe, she can't have both. This really throws Nikki and she turns for support to a very unlikely source causing more trouble. In the end Nikki realizes that she does have more people rooting for her than she realizes and takes comfort in that.

Finished this book but it was hard. Emotionally, it was hard. The worst keeps coming to Nicki's life and you know it's not over yet. It's like watching a horror movie and pausing before the killer comes out of the closet. You want to know what's happening next but have to talk yourself in pressing play. I had to talk myself to keep reading.I really felt for Nicki's character and by the end of the book, I really didn't want her with Joe. I really disliked him by the end and I felt he got off to easy in his role in this book. I know he was under a spell but at the sametime, he wasn't sorry for it and didn't really care what happened with Nicki. I didn't think he's paid enough in the end and having read all the crap that Nicki went through, he lacked what I needed to consider him of enough worth for Nicki. I think Nicki bounced back from her experiences better then I because I still don't like Joe.Glad to put this series to end for me. Great series, terrible book cover.Enjoy

Conclusion books always make me kind of sad. Throughout the years that it took me to read the Nicki Styx books i have grown incredibly close to Nicki and Joe. They went through some really tough times. But for me seeing their love endure all of the ghosts and demons really made the series. There is nothing better than a strong and competent heroine to light up the pages of a romantic/ urban fantasy novel. Nicki's strong personality is probably one of the main things that causes her to get into so much trouble and I love it! If you enjoy ghosts and happily ever afters in your books the Nicki Styx series is one for you. In Silent night Nicki and Joe's relationship is put to the test, and at times I was afraid things wouldn't work out. Terri Garey has such an incredible way of writing, she creates a spooky, dark, romantic and comedic story with such ease. I only hope that her other books are as good as this series was!

Maybe if I'd read the series from the beginning it would have been better, but having the plot thrown in your face in the first chapter was too much. I just could not stay interested.Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

With every one of Ms Garey's book that I read I proclaim this is my favorite one, only to read the next one and have it become my favorite. But, honestly if I am going to nit pick and I am, I would say get rid of Joe and bring in someone else. I DO NOT LIKE JOE!!! Yes Nicki loves Joe, and Joe supposedly loves Joe but I just don't get the vibe.I love the chemistry between Nicki and pretty much all of the characters and she takes her lot in life as well as can be expected. I totally get how she feels and she is funny in how she does this. I have the newest Terri Garey book in my Nook waiting to be read, and I almost don't want to read it because I don't want to have to wait for the next one. But, I will.As a closing note, read it, read it, read it!!

This was yet another chapter in the semi-fluffy paranormal romance world of Nikki Styx and her boyfriend Dr. Joe Bascombe. The book featured most of the major players from the previous books, but dealt more with someone out to get Nikki and Joe then with Nikki sending people towards the light. There was only one spirit Nikki had to help and even though it was tied to the larger story, the entire thing seemed trivial compared to everything else that was going on.It wasn’t the best, but it also wasn’t the worst in this series. Definitely worth picking up if you like the series and are looking for an easy, quick read.

I really enjoyed this series. So much so that I usually lost track of time while reading, which is a good thing.I was proven wrong (thank goodness) in that Joe was not just window dressing nor did Sammy completely disappear. So nice to have each character be an important part of the story. From the ending it looks like this one wraps things up. If so, I'll sorely miss Nicki and her group of friends. But, I'm looking forward to starting the next one, starring that handsome devil, Sammy!

This is not the first book in the series, might be the third, but I enjoyed it enough to want to go back and read the earlier ones. Not my usual type of book - paranormal romance, but I can dig it. Nicki is a young woman who nearly died of heart failure. A sexy doctor saved her and they fell in love - and since her near death, Nicki sees dead people. In this book she is tormented by a trio of scary women out to get her and haunted by a sad suicide ghost.

Where to start? I am pleasantly surprised that Sammy (after that last book, I had hoped he was gone for good) redeemed himself and made me like him. I felt Joe got off way too easy. He didn't seem sincere enough (to my tastes). A decent close to the series. My favorite remains book 2 A Match Made in Hell.

We all wish for special in our lives: special someone, special job, special children, and so forth. That's who I could understand the allure of Selene and Sammy. However I agreed with Nicki that they did belong to each other and Sammy was right there is a thin line between love and hate. Nicki has that tie to Joe and each needs to step back and analyze the situation before acting. This was a great series and I enjoyed it.

Enjoyable addition to the Nicki Styx series. The Fates visit Nicki in the night and then appear in human form the following day. Friction developes between Nicki and Joe as they see the maiden, mother and crone differently. A tortured soul runs from the Dark at Nicki's urging and creates more chaos in her life. Throw in an angry teenager, an overly friendly mechanic and Sammy/Satan for a quick read. 4 stars

Cute, easy paranormal romance mystery.Something about this book really bothers me.THE COVER!!! Who is that?? Can't be Joe. This is the fourth book in the series. Why put a photo on the cover? We already have our ideal of what Joe looks like. Let me just say it's not that man.ugh! And his outfit? He's a doctor he would not wear that!!! This guy hangs out with Nicki and Evan. NO,NO, they would not approve!! What on earth were they thinking when they did this????? TSK TSK!
